Her surgery was extensive but we hope it has been in time to save her.
Biscuit's surgery was extensive. She need her external ear removed, as it was full of the cancer tumour as well as her internal ear canal, as that wasn't looking too good either. X-rays showed that the cancer had not advanced as far as her brain or bones.
This may have started as a cancer of the ear tip, common in white cats and easily preventable with a rub of sunscreen on their ears. For Biscuit, no early action had been taken so the cancer spread, consumed her outer ear and then spread to her inner ear. Large parts of the tissue on her outer ear had rotted away, leaving a bleeding stump of an ear.
This surgery has left our vets account nearly empty, so after her treatment we have had to pause taking on more cases like Biscuit.
