We can't do everything on our own!
As a rescue, we build strong links with other rescues in our area so we can all help each other out when it comes to the crunch. This was just one of those occasions.
We were asked to go to a farm where with 5 Valley cat rescue we had helped TNR ( Trap / Neuter / Return ) a group of feral cats a few years before. There were estimated to be about 25 cats on this farm.
It was too much for the farmer's family
The farmer had recently died and the cats were too much to take on by the family so they urgently had to be rehomed to a feral placement.
After much ringing around and coordinating between rescues, we came up with a plan and started rounding up the equipment we needed. We had to shuffle crates, cat-catching crates, covers and bedding between several rescues to make this happen.
Over a very wet Saturday, as a team volunteers were able to catch 10 of the feral cats, get them secure in carry crates and then relocate them to an amazing home suitable for feral cats down in Kent. No easy task, by any means!
We still have quite some distance to go with this rescue!
If you think you could offer a home to a small group of feral cats, please contact us. We can provide all the advice and support you need to help settle in your new mousing team.
